The idea that a company only needs to offer a monthly cheque and an annual bonus (if you're lucky!) to guarantee some kind of loyalty is so short-sighted, it's untrue. The reason why I stay with BP is that they have a more sophisticated view of what 'value' actually means to me. Value is not just about pay parity; it's about flexibility, it's about understanding, and it's about seeing the person not just as a unit of production, but as a person who wants to be the best they can be - not just the best professional, but the best colleague, the best leader, the best husband and the best father. My loyalty comes not through cash, but through empathy.
