Who needs a SWAT team to escape from their own wedding? Me.
My Momzilla turned us into hostages at our own ceremony, so Declan and I are getting married the good old-fashioned way, just like everybody else.
By calling in his private security team, stealing away before the ceremony by helicopter, connecting to his corporate jet and heading for Las Vegas.
The Boston wedding of the year is about to become a trashy Elvis drive-thru ceremony.
Until the best man spills the beans and Mom, Dad, my sisters, his brothers, my maid of honor, my friend Josh, and even my cat, Chuckles, all come along for the ride.
I can't win, can I?
Oh. Yeah. I already did.
Love conquers all.
Even my crazy family.

About the Author
New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Julia Kent writes romantic comedy with an edge. From billionaires to BBWs to new adult rock stars, Julia finds a sensual, goofy joy in every contemporary romance she writes. Unlike Shannon from Shopping for a Billionaire, she did not meet her husband after dropping her phone in a men's room toilet (and he isn't a billionaire).
She lives in New England with her husband and three sons in a household where the toilet seat is never, ever, down.

Not what I expected--some good laughts
Book 8 is my least favorite book so far. I love the original couple Declan and Shannon and watching their relationship develop. There are a lot of hilarious parts that made me laugh hard. My problem is that I felt like I was on a merry-go-round. Parts of the story kept circling but didn’t feel like it takes me anywhere. I want to say incredulous because I read it every other chapter. I think this is Julia's favorite word.
By the time, we get to understand (a little) why Marie is so over the top crazy about her wedding foolishness; I didn’t care. Another track tht the story takes that I question is the parings. The story is starting to sound like the West Virginia/Tennessee Hollows. Andrew is with Shannon’s “best friend” Amanda, James is getting involved with Amanda’s mom. I don’t know where James and Pam's relationship is going since he always hooks up with young 20 somethings. Anyway, it feels strange and unnatural as it is becoming an inbred group.
Don’t get me wrong; I still like most of this book and series in general. Ms. Kent knows how to write and tell a story that makes me laugh. I am, however, questioning the way some parts of the story is progressing. I am hoping that Julie will return to the funniness that isn’t so over-the-top soon. Declan and Shannon are working on their issues that feel so right.

This latest installment in Shannon & Declan's life is as enchanting, clever and funny as ever. This time they're in Las Vegas trying to decide their next step now that they've escaped the juggernaut that was their first wedding attempt. The Las Vegas location is absolutely the perfect place to most pointedly highlight the differences between Declan and Shannon. Much as they love each other, the artifice and glamour of the city spotlight conflicts between the two that can easily divide them. Will they let that happen? Of course, family and friends have followed the engaged couple to sin city. Shannon' s Mom is still crazy and inappropriate. Her husband, Jason is as long suffering as ever, but is he really? Of course Amanda, Shannon' s BFF, and Declan' s brother, Andrew, have also joined the troupe. These characters bring an additional dimension to the telling of this story that totally engages the reader. The characters all come to life in this story, as they have in all the previous books.
The conflicts, competition and comedic situations are nothing less than brilliant. The necessary considerations of what a real marriage entails are artfully and sensitively addressed. The use of current slang, media and entertainment references make this book refreshing and real. Once again Ms. Kent has provided a particularly entertaining work that provides intelligence, spirit and wit while telling a well plotted and developed story. What a fascinating series, can't wait for the next installment.

Julia Kent hits another one out of the ballpark with the 8th book in this series! The story picks up with our heroine, Shannon and her ever thoughtful groom-to-be (and our Hero) Declan, fleeing their "over-the-top" Scottish-themed wedding ceremony that was planned by her Momzilla mother, Marie. Because there was so much of the press invited to the ceremony, their wild escape by helicopter, makes headline news around the world! The reader is a "fly on the wall" listening to sometimes giddy, sometimes heartwrenchingly panicked conversations between Shannon and Dec as the realization of what they did and the possible "whys" slowly unravels.
Julia stays true to her witty and fast moving dialogue between the main characters and all the supporting cast members (especially Declan's brother, Andrew, Shannon's best friend, Amanda, Shannon's parents, Marie and Jason, and Dec's father, James) we've all grown to love as well! What's different this time around is Julia has added deeper character development by revealing interesting insights, which intensifies the conflicts in the story. I think these intense conflicts leads to a sweeter, more satisfying HEA ending to this installment of the story. I can't wait to see what happens in the next phase!
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
